Telescopic boom lift rental: maximum reach for your project
Telescopic boom lifts enable linear, fast work at great height – without slewing and without compromising on outreach. Luibl Rental & Sales maintains a modern rental fleet of telescopic and articulating boom lifts with working heights up to 56.9 m, with delivery throughout the Netherlands by our own low-loader fleet. A comparison of all designs, from scissor lifts to telescopic boom lifts, can be found under Aerial platform rental: lift types compared, and the entire rental fleet under Aerial work platform rental.
Why rent a telescopic boom lift? Benefits and applications
Telescopic boom lifts excel where fast vertical movement, large horizontal outreach and stability are required.
Typical applications:
-
Facade work and window cleaning on high-rise buildings
-
Installation of steel structures and roof structures
-
Maintenance in power generation facilities and power plants
-
Maintenance work on bridges and infrastructure
-
Outdoor installation on industrial and commercial sites
Practical example: For the facade cleaning of a fully glazed office building at a height of 40 m, an articulating boom lift was used. The precise, separate control of the telescopic arm and the articulation made it possible to reach individual glass surfaces directly without repositioning the machine – a clear time advantage over other types of lift.
Linearity as the core advantage: Telescopic boom lifts travel at full height without twisting the structure. This considerably increases efficiency on long facade sections.
Diesel or electric: the right telescopic boom lift for every job
Diesel telescopic boom lifts – for rough terrain and large sites
Diesel models are designed for outdoor use on unpaved ground. Key features:
-
Four-wheel drive with differential lock for mud, gravel and sites with soft ground
-
Oscillating axle: actively compensates for uneven ground and keeps the platform level – critical on sites without level ground
-
High gradeability: rough-terrain models climb gradients of up to 45 %
-
Mind the ground pressure: on soft ground, surface pressure is decisive; diesel models with wider tyres and optional anti-slip protection have the edge here
Electric telescopic boom lifts – for halls, industry and sensitive environments
Electric models are designed for indoor use and emission-sensitive areas:
-
Non-marking tyres protect hall floors and coatings
-
Zero local emissions – suitable for areas with strict emission requirements (pharmaceutical industry, food processing)
-
Low noise for operation during ongoing production
-
More compact design for narrow hall doors and clearance heights
Key technical facts: what to look out for when renting
Before choosing the equipment, clarify the following parameters:
Working height vs. platform height
The platform height is approx. 2 m below the stated working height. What matters for the choice of equipment is the actual standing height of the fitter – not the manufacturer's value on the data sheet.
Outreach
Indicates how far horizontally you can work beyond an obstacle. Decisive for parapets, roof overhangs or installations that must not be driven under.
Basket load / load capacity
Platform load capacities range between 200 and 450 kg depending on the model. Tools, material and all persons in the basket must be calculated together.
Load moment limitation
Electronic safety system that automatically prevents overloading and unstable outreach positions. Required under the applicable standards and active as standard on all Luibl rental machines.
Ground pressure
Indicates the pressure load per square centimetre on the ground. For underground car park decks, industrial floors and compaction-sensitive surfaces, agree this in advance with the structural engineer.
Note on levelling: Modern telescopic boom lifts allow automatic platform levelling up to a defined ground slope angle. Values outside this tolerance require packing plates or a different machine.
What does it cost to rent a telescopic boom lift?
There is no flat rental price – the calculation depends on several factors:
Price-relevant parameters:
-
Machine type and working height: small telescopic boom lifts up to 20 m are priced well below machines of 40 m and more
-
Rental period: weekly and monthly rentals offer considerable savings compared with daily rates; long-term rentals often already include periodic inspection and maintenance
-
Transport distance: delivery by our own low-loader is calculated by distance and effort
-
Special equipment: specific tyres (heavy-tread tyres, hard ground), basket size or additional equipment can affect the price
Recommendation: request project quotes for several machines – for large sites, Luibl puts together combined rental packages with one central contact person.
Which licence do you need for telescopic boom lifts?
In the Netherlands, no separate licence is prescribed for operating aerial work platforms. However, clear competence requirements apply:
Under applicable Dutch health and safety rules, the operator must have received demonstrable instruction. The employer is responsible for the competence of its employees.
IPAF training (International Powered Access Federation) is the recognised industry standard for operator qualification – especially for international projects and large companies.
Luibl provides an operator briefing on handover for all machine types – ideal for renters working with telescopic boom lifts of this class for the first time.
Logistics and service: delivery throughout the Netherlands by Luibl
With its own low-loader fleet, Luibl ensures punctual delivery throughout the Netherlands and also to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and other countries.
Service standards:
-
Periodic inspection before every delivery: every rental machine is inspected in accordance with the statutory regulations. The documentation is available on delivery.
-
On-site briefing: on request, Luibl sends a technician who briefs the operator on handover at the work location and provides technical support on complex projects.
-
Fast technical service: in the event of a breakdown, Luibl minimises downtime through direct on-site support.
-
White-label rental: Luibl acts as a specialist partner for other rental companies that need specific high-reach machines.
Why Luibl? Over 20 years of rental service expertise: Luibl has supported projects for car plants (BMW, Mercedes, Audi), logistics centres and industrial facilities throughout Europe. This experience flows directly into our advice – from the equipment recommendation to logistics planning for sites with several machines in parallel.
