Diesel scissor lift rental at Luibl Rental
Diesel scissor lift rental – rough-terrain scissor lifts from 10 m to 34 m for your major project
Anyone who has to work at height with heavy loads on unpaved outdoor terrain cannot do without a diesel scissor lift. Electric machines are ruled out on topsoil, gravel or sloping open ground – not because of the lift height, but because of drive, ground clearance and load reserves under real load conditions. The Luibl rental fleet includes 27 diesel scissor lifts from well-known manufacturers such as Holland Lift, JLG, Magni, Genie and HAB – with working heights from 10 m to 34 m and load capacities up to 1,000 kg. All machines are inspected before handover in line with the periodic inspection of work equipment under the Working Conditions Decree and EN 280 and delivered in perfect technical condition.
Performance classes in the Luibl rental fleet: compact, large and high-bay class
Not every diesel scissor lift is suitable for every job. The decisive selection parameters are working height, platform payload, platform length when extended and the off-road capability of the chassis. Luibl divides its diesel range into three performance classes so that you can assess, even before your enquiry, which type of machine your project requires.
Compact class: 10 m to 14 m working height for confined outdoor areas
Compact diesel scissor lifts are the right choice when access routes are narrow, the ground is uneven and working heights of more than ten metres are still required. The models in this class have a narrow width that allows them to pass through standard site gates, and an extendable deck that increases the usable platform area without lifting. Typical applications are facade work on existing buildings with limited forecourts, installation work on industrial sites with uneven gravel beds or assembly work on sites where no crane is available.
Machine class at a glance:
-
Working height: 10 m to 14 m
-
Drive: diesel/four-wheel drive
-
Gradeability: up to 45 %
-
Platform design: extendable deck for additional material storage
Large scissor lifts with extended deck: 15 m to 22 m
From approx. 15 m working height, the focus shifts to platform capacity. In hall and facade construction these machines are used when several people work on the platform at the same time and materials such as sandwich panels, ventilation ducts or support profiles are to be processed directly from the deck. The platforms in this class can be extended to lengths of more than 6 m; the load capacity is up to 750 kg – enough for two people with heavy tools and semi-finished material.
A proven machine in this segment is the JLG Liftlux 203-24: 22.5 m working height, 750 kg load capacity, 10 m² platform area, 11,400 kg dead weight. The same applies to the HAB S225-24 D4WDS with 22.5 m working height and four-wheel drive. Both models are fitted with white, non-marking solid rubber tyres – a key criterion for use in freshly coated factory halls, where conventional off-road tyres would leave tracks.
With 28 m working height, the JLG Liftlux 260-25 covers the upper limit of this class. All-wheel steering combined with four-wheel drive ensures precise travel even on uneven terrain; proportional control of all drive and lift functions allows millimetre-precise positioning under load. When stowed, the machine travels at 3.6 km/h; when raised, the travel speed is limited to 0.3 km/h.

High-bay and large scissor lifts: 23 m to 34 m for industrial plant construction
The top performance segment of the Luibl rental fleet covers projects for which no other type of aerial work platform is sufficient: facade installation on multi-storey industrial and logistics buildings, steel construction in plant engineering, roof work on halls with ridge heights above 20 m. Luibl is one of the few rental companies in Germany with several 34 m diesel scissor lifts in its own fleet.
The flagship of this class is the Holland Lift HL 340D30 4WDS: 34 m working height, 1,000 kg load capacity, platform width 3 m, dead weight approx. 32 tonnes. The platform can be extended up to 9.66 m – a value rarely achieved by comparable competing products. All drive and lift functions are controlled proportionally. An electronic tilt sensor automatically switches off the lift function as soon as the permissible ground inclination is exceeded. A differential lock and a switchable fast gear complete the chassis.
Also in the fleet: the Magni DS3225RT with 32 m working height and the Holland Lift Megastar G320, the predecessor of the HL 340D30 with identical working height.
Important planning note: machines in the 34 m class have a width of 3 m and a transport weight of almost 32 tonnes. This requires an abnormal load transport. Plan a lead time of approx. 2–3 weeks for permits and transport organisation. Luibl coordinates the abnormal load transport with its own low-loader fleet.

Technical equipment for demanding terrain: four-wheel drive, oscillating axle and differential lock
On paper, 'rough-terrain capable' sounds like a simple feature. In practice, the combination of several chassis properties determines whether a diesel scissor lift can actually be set up safely on a real construction site.
Four-wheel drive and all-wheel steering are the basic requirement. Four-wheel drive distributes the drive force evenly across all axles – essential on soft ground, where a single axle would spin. All-wheel steering makes it possible to manoeuvre around obstacles in the tightest spaces, which is often underestimated with long-platform machines outdoors.
Oscillating axle: On uneven ground, the oscillating axle keeps all four wheels in permanent contact with the ground – even when the surface varies between the axles. Without this feature, one wheel would lift off on uneven ground, causing lateral instability that the electronic tilt sensor detects but cannot prevent. The oscillating axle is fitted as standard on most machines from the 20 m class upwards.
Differential lock: When a drive wheel loses traction on slippery or soft ground, the differential lock prevents one-sided wheel spin and transfers torque to the wheel with better grip. In facade work on topsoil – especially after rain – this feature is the decisive difference between a working machine and one that is stuck.
Solid tyres vs. rough-terrain tyres: Rough-terrain models with foam-filled or solid rubber tyres have a decisive advantage in factory halls and on freshly coated industrial floors: they leave no tracks. For projects where the machine switches between outdoor and indoor use, this is an important selection criterion. The HAB S225-24 D4WDS is available in the Luibl fleet with such non-marking solid tyres.
Logistics and safety standards in Luibl machine rental
All diesel scissor lifts in the Luibl rental fleet are technically inspected before delivery. The inspection requirement follows from the Working Conditions Decree, Chapter 7 (work equipment), in conjunction with applicable Dutch health and safety rules and NEN-EN 280 – the European standard for mobile elevating work platforms. It requires regular inspections by competent persons, defines the minimum design requirements (tipping stability, load charts, wind load limits) and sets out the documentation obligations for the user.
For long-term rentals, Luibl offers combined packages that include periodic inspection of work equipment under the Working Conditions Decree and annual maintenance – particularly useful for projects running several months, as the inspection requirement applies whether the machine is bought or rented.
Transport is handled by our own low-loader fleet. For standard machines up to 28 m working height, no special permit is usually required. The 34 m class (width 3 m, weight approx. 32 t) requires an abnormal load transport – Luibl coordinates the permit and the vehicles. Delivery throughout the Netherlands and to all other Luibl markets: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary, Luxembourg.
If a technical fault occurs during the rental period, you can request a service technician via the form on luibl.eu. The technician is sent directly to the site to keep downtime to a minimum.
Checklist for site managers before ordering the machine:
-
Check the ground bearing capacity at the set-up area (guide value: point load depending on machine class up to 30 t on a footprint of approx. 3 m Ă— 4 m)
-
Clarify access width and clearance height for the low-loader and the machine
-
Measure the ground slope (max. permissible according to the manufacturer's specification; for 34 m models typically ≤ 3° in operation)
-
Request the report of the last periodic inspection for submission to the authorities
-
For 34 m models: allow 2–3 weeks lead time for the abnormal load transport permit
