Anyone who has to work at a height of 22 metres in a high-bay warehouse but only has an aisle width of 1.40 metres hits a physical limit with standard machines. PB Lifttechnik took this limit as a design challenge: build narrower, lift higher, carry more. The result is scissor lifts that have no direct competitor in Central and Western Europe. PB Lifttechnik is a German company – development, design and manufacturing in Germany. In a modern logistics centre near Leipzig, the PB S225-12ES made maintenance work possible at a height of 22 metres with an aisle width of only 1.40 metres. Conventional scissor lifts could not have met this combination of aisle width and working height – the project would have had to rely on a climbing solution or time-consuming dismantling of the racking.

The S series is the core product of the PB rental fleet at Luibl. All models share three features: electric drive, non-marking tyres and a platform with an extendable deck that enlarges the working area without moving the machine.

PB S171-12ES:

PB S225-12ES:

• Working height: 22.5 m

• Platform width (retracted): 1.22 m

• Load capacity: up to 900 kg

• Design feature: patented scissor geometry with increased stiffness for minimal deflection at maximum lift height

• Application scenario: sprinkler system maintenance, ventilation cleaning and fire protection installation in class 4+ high-bay warehouses (more than 20 m storage height). The 900 kg load capacity allows spare parts, tools and two technicians to be lifted in one go.

Logistics is rarely about a single technician with hand tools. Fire protection installations require pipe sections, fittings and installation tools on the platform. Sprinkler work at heights of 20+ metres means ladders, hoses and several skilled workers at the same time. In this context, a load capacity of 900 kg is not a reserve – it is an operational necessity.

PB S series models achieve these load capacities without increasing the track width. The vertical extension of the scissor transfers the load straight upwards, without lateral force components that would impair stability in narrow aisles. Automatic levelling ensures that the machine can be operated stably even on slightly uneven areas of the hall floor – expansion joints, drainage channels, slight gradients – without packing plates.

Three technical features make the PB rental solution measurably more economical for logistics centres than the alternatives:

Compactness without sacrificing load capacity: Other narrow scissor lifts achieve the 1.22 m track width but reduce the load capacity to 450–500 kg in return. The PB S series combines both – narrow-aisle capability and 900 kg load capacity – in one machine. Fewer lifts, shorter project duration.

Electric drive for shift operation: PB platforms are designed for high cycle durability. The battery capacity is sized for full working shifts – no unplanned charging stops during ongoing fire-protection installation work. The electric motor runs with zero local emissions and low noise, allowing operation alongside ongoing warehouse activity.

Platform extension without repositioning the machine: The slide-out platform extension enlarges the working area sideways without the machine having to be moved. In a narrow aisle, repositioning a platform at a lift height of 20+ metres costs time and adds safety effort. The extension replaces several repositioning moves with a single lever movement.

All models are tested and certified to NEN-EN 280 (Mobile elevating work platforms – design calculations, stability, construction). Every delivery comes with valid proof of the periodic inspection of work equipment under the Working Conditions Decree.

Automatic levelling: The drive system detects floor unevenness and compensates for it without the operator having to intervene manually. For hall floors with varying conditions – typical of logistics centres with vehicle traffic and expansion joints – this is an active safety feature, not just a convenience.

Proportional control: Travel movement responds proportionally to the lever position – a slow lever deflection means slow travel, even when the battery is fully charged. In narrow aisles at a height of 20 metres, sensitive control is not optional equipment but safety-relevant. A machine without proportional control reacts too abruptly in such situations.

Non-marking tyres: PB S series models come with non-marking tyres as standard. Epoxy and polyurethane coatings on high-bay warehouse floors remain undamaged – no cleaning costs after the rental period, no queries about floor damage on return.

Battery capacity for full shifts: PB platforms are designed for multi-shift operation. The battery capacity allows a full 8-hour shift without intermediate charging, even with frequent lift cycles at great heights. For projects with a fixed completion date, this eliminates unplanned machine downtime.
